Yay for the Yerkes' New Blog!

Welcome to our new blog! I've always loved the idea of having a blog but wanted to wait until we started our family so that we could keep family and friends updated with fun stories and cute pics. Well, since we have already begun this journey and recently run into some roadblocks, I decided to throw caution to the wind and start our blog now! This will be a great source of stress relief for me and hopefully you will find some humor along the way too. Laughter is some of the best medicine and I believe that if you can't laugh at yourself and the situations that surround you then you are way too serious, my friend!

Where to begin...well, as most of you know, Chris and I have been trying to grow our little family for about 7 months now. It has been quite the journey thus far. We have laughed, cried, and even laughed so hard that we cried, but through it all we have held tight to each other and to our belief that God is faithful and that He will give us our family that we so desperately want! In March we began going to my OB/GYN for some fertility testing because I just had this feeling that something wasn't right. Last week, Chris and I were crushed by some news that we received back from the initial fertility testing. We were referred to a fertility specialist and we have our first appointment next week. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and I know that God is working on something really awesome through the midst of this...but it's still hard to find out that your plans for a family that have been in place for the last three years could all come to an abrupt halt.

Can I just say that I have the most amazing husband ever! Chris has been such a trooper with me through all of this and not once has he mentioned being opposed to alternative means of growing our family. Both of us are so committed to this and we are willing to work together to grow our little family no matter what it takes! We've been reading this book in our church small group called "Wild at Heart". Awesome book, by the way! The book talks a lot about God's adventure for us and taking that leap of faith and embracing the adventure instead of always declining and taking the "safe" route. This past weekend and all this week I have been gearing up to embrace this adventure that God has in store for us. In the past two weeks I have gone from hopeful...to devestated...to depressed...to hopeful again...and now I'm excited! I don't know what He has in store for us in our adventure, but I know that I am ready to take that leap of faith and trust Him and I know that he will show us the way to growing our little family!

If you've made it this far in this post...I applaud you! Thanks for sticking it out and muddling through my rambling! Stay tuned as we update you on our journey and I reserve the right to also post when I'm feeling angry, sad or frustrated. I'm only human, people, and I have to take it one day at a time!
