So, Chris and I have a trip planned in about 3 1/2 weeks to Puerto Vallarta for a good friend's wedding and we decided to go a few days early and just make this our vacation for the year. We have been so excited about this trip and after everything that's been going on lately we could REALLY use this vacation!! As I'm sure all of you know, there is now this little issue called the Swine Flu and I'm afraid that it could possibly ruin our vacation. I'm all about embracing God's adventure for us, but that is one adventure that I did not sign up for! Contracting a terrible and possibly deadly virus while on vacation...NO THANK YOU! Next adventure, please!
:-)
Here is a little inspiration for the week...
I'm sure most of you know that fertility treatments, such as IVF, are NOT cheap at all and as of right now it looks like that is the path that we will be taking. I have told Chris this whole time that I wasn't stressed about how we would pay for this because I knew that God would provide a way for us if this was in His plans. Once again, He was faithful and showed us that He is in complete control of this situation. On Friday we found out that my awesome bosses might be able to change insurance plans to a new one that would cover a good portion of the costs, and the cost for this insurance would be minimal! Woohoo!! Our future children will be able to go to college after all! :-)
Don't get me wrong, I struggle all the time with leaving things in God's hands and trying my best not to worry about them and I often fail miserably at this. But God has shown Chris and me that if we will do just that, leave the worries and anxiety with Him, He will take care of us. I'm a firm believer that God will not give you more than you can handle and I know that Chris and I are in for many more twists and turns along the way, but it makes the ride much easier knowing that He is in control and He won't let us fall!
Have a good week, everyone!

God is good!!!
Chris and I just got home from the doctor's appointment and we feel so blessed that God has answered our prayers...we will be able to have our own children (genetically speaking)!!! Woohoo!!!! We still have a long road ahead of us and I'm sure that there will be many more bumps and turns along the way but we are just so grateful to be at this point in our journey. The next doctor's appointment will be in 3 weeks where we will get the results from some genetic testing that was ordered in an attempt to narrow down the options and bring us closer to a final diagnosis for the cause of our infertility. Please pray that the time will pass quickly for us and that the tests results will come back normal.
Thank you all so much for all of your prayers and thoughts! We are so blessed to have such awesome family and friends!

In the words of my sister...Pray Your Socks Off!
We are almost there, people. Tomorrow is our appointment with the specialist and I am sooo glad that our two week wait for this appointment is almost over! We got the results back from some blood work yesterday and we're a little concerned. Please pray for us tomorrow that 1) we will finally get some answers 2) we will not be discouraged no matter what the diagnosis is 3) that we will not have to wait another two weeks for whatever appointment will come next.
Now for something a little lighter. I was so excited that my best friend, Morgan, FINALLY joined Facebook and was even more excited to learn that the "Which Steel Magnolias Character Are You" quiz gave her the result of Ouiser! That is SO perfect because my result for the quiz was Clairee! We have always said that we want to grow old together and be like the Golden Girls! I think we'll have a lot more fun and can stir up more trouble as Ouiser and Clairee, though!

Yay for the Yerkes' New Blog!
Welcome to our new blog! I've always loved the idea of having a blog but wanted to wait until we started our family so that we could keep family and friends updated with fun stories and cute pics. Well, since we have already begun this journey and recently run into some roadblocks, I decided to throw caution to the wind and start our blog now! This will be a great source of stress relief for me and hopefully you will find some humor along the way too. Laughter is some of the best medicine and I believe that if you can't laugh at yourself and the situations that surround you then you are way too serious, my friend!
Where to begin...well, as most of you know, Chris and I have been trying to grow our little family for about 7 months now. It has been quite the journey thus far. We have laughed, cried, and even laughed so hard that we cried, but through it all we have held tight to each other and to our belief that God is faithful and that He will give us our family that we so desperately want! In March we began going to my OB/GYN for some fertility testing because I just had this feeling that something wasn't right. Last week, Chris and I were crushed by some news that we received back from the initial fertility testing. We were referred to a fertility specialist and we have our first appointment next week. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and I know that God is working on something really awesome through the midst of this...but it's still hard to find out that your plans for a family that have been in place for the last three years could all come to an abrupt halt.
Can I just say that I have the most amazing husband ever! Chris has been such a trooper with me through all of this and not once has he mentioned being opposed to alternative means of growing our family. Both of us are so committed to this and we are willing to work together to grow our little family no matter what it takes! We've been reading this book in our church small group called "Wild at Heart". Awesome book, by the way! The book talks a lot about God's adventure for us and taking that leap of faith and embracing the adventure instead of always declining and taking the "safe" route. This past weekend and all this week I have been gearing up to embrace this adventure that God has in store for us. In the past two weeks I have gone from hopeful...to devestated...to depressed...to hopeful again...and now I'm excited! I don't know what He has in store for us in our adventure, but I know that I am ready to take that leap of faith and trust Him and I know that he will show us the way to growing our little family!
If you've made it this far in this post...I applaud you! Thanks for sticking it out and muddling through my rambling! Stay tuned as we update you on our journey and I reserve the right to also post when I'm feeling angry, sad or frustrated. I'm only human, people, and I have to take it one day at a time!
