What we've been up to...

Wow, I'm ashamed that it's been two weeks since my last post. I always come up with ideas and things I want to post about, but sadly I just haven't been making the time. There's always something around the house that needs to be done or I'm just too tired by the end of the day to form any sort of coherent post. I want to make sure I record all the fun, new things that Logan and Paige are up to so here it goes!

Logan and Paige are still loving the pool! We have taken them to one of our neighborhood pools a few times and we have also swam several times at Mimi and Poppi's pool. Paige LOVES the water! She is my litte waterbug! I absolutely love baby swimsuits and I especially love their little tushies in them and the hiney hang-out! It's too cute. I may or may not have bought 4 different swimsuits for Paige already. A girl needs choices, right? :-)

Logan is doing really well at sitting up all by himself now. He no longer needs a spotter. Go Logan! He's also SO close to crawling! He tries so hard and actually lunged forward on his knees the other day and moved one hand forward...then he plopped down on his belly. :-) Paige, on the other hand, is perfectly content to just sit and play with her toys and books. She has made absolutely no attempts at trying to crawl. I think she's just holding out for Logan so that once he's mobile she can just boss him around and tell him to get things for her. Ha!

I just love to watch all the new things that they're learning. They are both learning to take their puffs in their fingers and feed themselves. Paige does this pretty well. Logan just wants me to do everything for him. He gets SO mad at me when I try to make him hold the puffs in his fingers and feed himself or when I make him hold his bottle or sippy cup. It's not that he can't do it, he just doesn't want to do it. Lazy, little boy! Speaking of sippy cups, we just introduced them to Paige and Logan this past weekend and I'm happy to say that they're both doing so well with them! I bought the Nub.y brand that has two handles on each side and a flexible, soft spout on the top. It's spillproof and it's pretty easy for them to hold and tilt back. I'm giving them a tiny bit of baby applejuice mixed with water in the cups. They seem to like it.

While we're on the subject of feeding, Logan and Paige have continued to move right along with trying new fruits and veggies. We usually have oatmeal mixed with some sort of fruit (pears, apples, peaches, bananas, etc.) for breakfast in the morning and then at dinner they get two veggies or a fruit and a veggie. I'm gearing myself up to start feeding them a solid for lunch too. Once I start I can't go back! We've also let them try a few table foods as well. They've had shredded chicken, rolls and some mashed potatoes from Lu.by's. Yum!

Paige is really into this patting thing. She loves to pat-pat-pat on your chest, shoulder, leg or arm. It's so sweet and I just love it! Logan and Paige's Auntie H came to visit a few weeks ago and we all had so much fun! She lives in Denver so we don't get to see each other that often. We missed not getting to see Uncle Phil and cousin Berkeley but we can't wait to see the whole family at Christmas!

That's all I can think of for now so I'll leave you with some recent pics!

8 Months!

On Sunday our sweet babies turned 8 months old! I have no doubt that the next four months are going to fly by and I will no longer have babies...they will be toddlers. Ugh. Can someone please hurry up and figure out a way to slow down time? They are doing so many new things now and are just so much fun. They both have lots of personality and I love it!

Logan~ You are just as sweet and funny as ever! You still have two bottom teeth and you love to try to eat all of us! I keep telling Daddy that we're all going to have nightmares about your two little teeth coming at us. Ha! You will grab ahold of my face and pull me really hard towards you so that you can eat my face. You are so silly! You are doing really well at sitting up on your own now but you still need a spotter or a boppy around you when you reach for things beside you or behind you. You love to stand up and you love to bounce (aka "boingy boingy")! You absolutely adore your sister! You will just smile so big when you see her and the two of you have developed quite the little communication system lately. It's so fun to watch the two of you interact! You are now wearing size 3 diapers all the time. You wear mostly 6-9 month clothes and a few 6-12 month. I also still squeeze you into a few 3-6 month clothes at times. You have tried lots of new foods but you no longer like to eat veggies that aren't sweet. The only ones you'll eat now are sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Mommy has gotten sneaky, though, and has started mixing some other non-sweet veggies with the sweet potatoes and squash so that you won't know the difference. :-) You have recently started having peach yogurt melts and Ger.ber puffs for snacks. You also get peach popsicles when we go to Mimi and Poppi's house to swim! You are just growing up TOO fast! Mommy and Daddy love you SOOO much!!

Paige ~Sweet, baby girl...you crack us up! Your personality has just exploded and you do the funniest things! You LOVE to dance now and sometimes you'll stick your tushy out and dance on Daddy's lap! You love to laugh and are ticklish now. You have one bottom tooth that has started poking through the gums and I'm pretty sure you're also in the midst of cutting the tooth right beside it as well. You are sitting up all by yourself now without any assistance or spotting. You do NOT like to share toys with your brother but you love to laugh at him and "talk" to him. You and Logan went swimming for the first time a few weeks ago and you LOVE it! You are seriously a little water baby! You have tried so many new foods now and so far you have liked everything. You also like the peach yogurt melts and Ger.ber puffs that we recently started giving you. A peach popsicle at Mimi and Poppi's house after swimming is always a favorite too! You are getting so big! Mommy and Daddy love you SOOO much!!

*The following pictures were taken right before bedtime and they were the best we could get. We are in full out teething chaos over here and so it's pretty much complete survivial mode at this point! At least I got the pictures...a day late. Oh well. Such is the life of a twin mom, right!?

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Happy Birthday to the best husband and daddy in the world!! We had a fun day celebrating daddy's birthday today. Paige, Logan and I took him to lunch at Pappasito's (YUM!) and then we went to his office so that he could show the babies off a little. :-) He's such a proud daddy and I LOVE it! This evening we had a small family birthday party at our house for daddy and his twin sister, Aunt Christi. We even got to see and speak to our Uncle Phil, Aunt Heather and cousin Berkeley on Skype when they called to wish daddy a happy birthday. That was a great surprise! It was a great evening!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!! We love you to the moon and back!!

7 months Old

Logan and Paige turned 7 months old on May 12th...this post is obviously a wee bit late. Better late than never, though, right!? I have to admit, I was really sad for them to turn 7 months old. I LOVE this age they're at but now I feel like we're on the downhill slide to them turning 1. I don't even want to think about that! My sweet babies are growing up WAY too fast!!

Logan~ You are just like your daddy! You have his goofy personality and I just love it! You are all smiles from the moment you wake up in the morning until...5:00 pm. Ha! At 5:00 you turn into Mr. Grumpapus as we affectionately call you. :-) It is full meltdown mode until you go to bed between 7:00-7:30. You actually play pretty well after you have dinner and your bath but the minute we start trying to put your jammies on you start screaming! It's actually pretty funny. So far you have loved every new solid food that you have tried. I think your favorites are sweet potatoes, green beans and bananas. You're still wearing size two diapers during the day and size three at night for bedtime. You can still wear most of your 3-6 month clothes but are also in 6-9 months and a few 6-12 months. You will laugh uncontrollably if we pretend that we're eating your tummy or your neck. It is so cute! You still love to pull mommy's hair. You're also still trying SO hard to crawl. Last week you actually figured out how to inch your way backwards and you ended up getting stuck under the couch twice. You are just the sweetest, cutest little boy and we love you SO much!!

Paige~ Your little personality is really starting to shine and you are so funny! You make the cutest, silliest little faces. I just love them! You are all smiles all day...especially when daddy gets home! Your newest thing is that you LOVE to babble...all.day.long. :-) I just cannot get enough of your sweet, little voice. I love it! You are doing really well at practicing your sounds and you actually said "da-da" directly to your daddy the other morning. I think he has been on cloud nine ever since! You love to give hugs now too. You will just squeeze mommy's neck, especially when I get you up in the morning or from a nap. I love this too! So far you have liked every new food that we've tried except for the sweet potatoes. There was something funky that went on with the bananas too. You seemed to really like them but then afer the 5th or 6th bite you would just start screaming. I'm thinking that they just didn't set very well on your tummy. :-( I think your favorites so far are avocados, squash and green beans. You're still wearing size two diapers during the day and size 3 at night for bedtime. You're still wearing 3-6 month clothes and can now wear 6-9 month as well. You really love for us to clap and you like to put your hands on the back of ours and clap with us. You like to have lots of conversations with us and you love talking to Logan. It's so cute! You're doing really well at sitting up on your own now. You still need a spot from us or the boppy but you're so close to doing this all on your own. You are the sweetest, cutest little girl and we love you SO much!!

More solids and some randomness

We're still doing well with the solids. After the avocado we tried sweet potatoes. Logan was a huge fan, but Paige...not so much. Poor baby girl cried until I made her some avocado. We continued the sweet potatoes/avocado for four days and then we moved on to bananas. I thought for sure these would be a hit. Both babies liked the bananas but I don't think Paige's tummy liked them too much. :-( She did fine with eating them for about 6 bites or so and then all of a sudden she would just start screaming. This happened two days in a row so I stopped giving them to her. Poor thing. I'm starting to worry that she has inherited my sensitive tummy. We are now eating green beans and they both love them! So far making homemade baby food for them is going really well. It's actually kind of fun. :-)

Now on to some randomness. Logan and Paige are really starting to interact with each other more and more. Yesterday Logan took Paige's binkie out of her mouth...twice. The first time she happened to have a toy in her hand and she flung it at his head after he stole her binkie. Thankfully it was a soft toy. The second time was about 5 minutes later and he rolled over the other way so that she couldn't see it. He might have been protecting himself from another toy being hurled his way too! They really like to babble to each other now too. They'll look at each other, babble something and then smile and laugh. It's so cute! I need to get it on video. Everytime it happens I just sit there and watch them in amazement. I don't want to miss anything by getting up to get the camera!

They're both in the midst of teething right now and I really hope the teeth that are trying to come through hurry up! They have been SO unsettled this week. Well, that's about all the random thoughts I have for now. Here are some recent pictures. :-)

Paige: Happy Easter! Logan: WHY does she insist on doing this to me!?

Ahh, the good life

Um, this is not avocado

Solids!

Logan and Paige tried solid food for the first time tonight and I think it went really well! We decided to start this new adventure with some avocado. I've read some great things about starting with avocado and it's super easy too. We gave them each 1/4 of an avocado which was more than plenty to start with. Although, I think Miss Paige just might turn into an avocado after tonight! She really liked it once she got the hang of the spoon and was sitting in my lap eating. She's a girl after my own heart! Her mommy and daddy love guacamole and I love eating plain avocados with salt too. Yum! We started with them in their high chairs and we reclined them back a little ways. I think it felt too much like they were laying down because they both really seemed to enjoy eating the avocado once we sat them up. I decided to just put Paige in my lap and she gobbled it down! She even started grabbing the spoon and my hand and she would pull it into her mouth. Such a big girl! Logan ended up eating in daddy's lap and did really well too. He didn't eat as much as Paige but I still think he liked it. So, overall I would say that their first time trying solids was a success!

I can't wait to try another food. I wish we didn't have to wait four days in between trying foods, but I know it's what's best and we will of course abide by this rule. I think we're going to try sweet potatoes next. I hope they like them...if they don't we just won't tell their Auntie Heather. It would just break her heart! :-) (My sister LOVES sweet potatoes and I have grown to love them too over the last year). I'm posting a few pictures below. They really don't show their reactions too much. It took them a little while to figure things out, but their little green faces are still pretty cute. :-) We also got a video of each of them taking their first bites, but I had to take the videos with my phone. The stupid battery on our flip video camera was dead. I'll try to remember to charge it before we try something new next week.

P.S. Two posts in one week...can you believe it?!
