Sippy Cup Help

Ok all you savvy moms out there, I need some help with sippy cups.  Logan and Paige have been drinking really well out of sippy cups for several months now.  I have been using the Nub.y cups that have two handles and a soft spout.  They did great with transitioning to these cups and up until this weekend I hadn't noticed many leaks.  Well, that would be because up until this weekend they had only been drinking water in their sippy cups. We are now starting them on some whole milk in their cups and oh my goodness...they LEAK!  It's terrible!  I definitely need to have my carpet cleaned now and should probably go clean my mother-in-law's carpet too!  (Sorry Mimi!) 

So, here's where all of you come in.  What sippy cups have worked best for your little ones?  I'm looking for one that does NOT leak, is easy for them to hold, and one that has a good spout.  We need to transition to a hard spout soon anyway so I'm not opposed to trying a hard spout now versus going with another cup with a soft spout.

11 Months

Logan & Paige turned 11 months old on September 12th.  How is that possible?!  My sweet babies will be one year old in less than a month.  Crazy!  They are just so much fun and I love to watch all the new things they're learning.  They are so cute when they communicate with each other.  Their little personalities are continuing to develop and it's fun to see just how much they are like us...even the traits that we wish hadn't been passed down!  Ha!

Logan~ My sweet, little man...you are so much like your daddy!  You definitely have daddy's sense of humor!  You are still just as smiley as ever but you can definitely communicate when you're unhappy too.  :-)  You are a HUGE mommy's boy still and of course I eat this up!  You love to wave at people and the animals now.  You absolutely love our dog, Bailey, and will squeal with delight when you see her in the mornings.  You don't seem to be teething as much right now but you are definitely still a big thumb sucker.  You love your glowy seahorse and you sleep with it every night.  You tuck it up underneath your arm as you settle in to fall asleep.  It's so sweet!  You still LOVE to be read to, especially peek-a-boo books with the flaps inside.  You also love your touch and feel animal books.  You still love to eat and will pretty much eat anything we put in front of you.  You have even started crawling over to us and climbing up beside us to see what we're eating in the hopes that we will give you some.  :-) You are eating 100% table foods and really have been for awhile now.  You are doing really well with feeding yourself and with using your sippy cup.  You're still wearing some 9 month clothes and a few 6-12 month clothes, but only in a few brands.  You also wear some 12 month clothes now as well.  You're still wearing size 3 diapers and size 4 overnight diapers.  You have six teeth now and hopefully you'll get a break from the serious teething for awhile.  Cutting four teeth within two weeks was not fun!  You are a very fast crawler now and you pull up on everything you can get your hands on.  You do really well with standing on your own and not holding onto anything.  You still love your sister and you smile at her all the time.  You love for her to tickle you and crawl over you when you're laying on the floor.  You will just giggle at her when she does it.  So cute!  I can't believe that your one year birthday is almost upon us.  Mommy and daddy love you SO much little man!

Paige~  My sweet, little baby girl!  You are just SO lovey and affectionate.  You love to give kisses and pats.  You love to crawl up in our laps and cuddle or just sit with us.  You are most definitely like your mommy!  You have a mind of your own and cannot be rushed.  You do things in your own time and you have no problem with letting us know when things aren't going your way.  :-)  You are still a HUGE daddy's girl and daddy wouldn't have it any other way!  You get SO excited when he comes home from work and you also get very upset if he doesn't come pick you up or talk to you immediately.  :-)  You love our cat, Charlie, and will crawl after him and try to pet him if he's in the same room.  You still love your binkies but thankfully you only use them to sleep and sometimes at church when we drop you off in the nursery.  You love any toy that you can shake and you LOVE to check the mail in your little play house.  It's so cute!  You still love books, especially the peek-a-boo books with the flaps inside and the touch and feel animal books.  Sometimes you just like to sit and look at them on your own.  You are such an independent little soul at times, but it's one of the qualities that I love most about you.  :-)  You love to eat but there are times that you will shake your head "no" when we try to feed you something that you're not sure about.  You do not like us to try to feed you food that is on your tray.  You like to do it yourself!  You are doing so well with feeding yourself and using your sippy cup.  You are eating 100% table foods and have been for awhile now.  You are still wearing some size 9 month clothes and a few 6-12 month clothes in certain brands.  You can also wear some 12 month clothes as well.  You still wear size 3 diapers and size 4 overnight diapers.  You still have two teeth, but I think you might be getting some on top soon.  You love to crawl all over the place and love pulling up on everything.  You love standing on your head and acting silly.  It's so cute!  You are doing SO well with standing all by yourself and not holding onto anything.  You can stand like that and balance yourself for a long time!  Your favorite toy right now is your rocking pony that you ride.  I really think you could just ride that thing all day if we let you!  You are so cute when you start movning back and forth really fast to make it go!  You love your brother and you absolutely love to crawl on top of him and tickle him!  I can't believe that your one year birthday will be here so soon.  Mommy and daddy love you SO much!

My First Review

This is my first blog review and I'm so excited! I was approached by Brendan from Easy Canvas Prints a few weeks ago. They have a business that turns your photos to canvas prints. He asked if I would be willing to do a review of their product on my blog and I said yes! For all you Texas peeps, their company is located in Austin. :-)

The process was super easy. I selected one of my favorite photos of my sweet tootles, uploaded it to their website, chose the size, borders and a few more items and then I was done. So super easy! It literally took less than 10 minutes. I received the finished canvas in the mail and I love it!! I have always loved the look of photos on canvas and I can't wait to find the perfect place for it in our house.

10 Months

Logan and Paige turned 10 months old on August 12th. I am in total denial that they will be one year old in less than two months. TWO MONTHS, PEOPLE!!! I am clinging on to these last few months of true babyhood. I want them to stay my little babies forever!

Logan~ You are so busy all the time! You are crawling all over the place and pulling up on everything. You have even started letting go of things and you will stand all by yourself for a few seconds before you plop down on your tushy. You are going to be off and running in no time! You now have four teeth! You cut your top two teeth a few weeks ago. I think you might be getting ready to cut some more too. You're going to have a mouth full of teeth before long! You are super cuddly, especially with mommy. You will just crawl over, climb up in my lap and lay your head on me while sucking your thumb. Melts.my.heart. I am soaking up all the cuddles I can get! You are doing so well with feeding yourself finger foods. You LOVE yogurt and have it almost everyday for lunch. You're still having four bottles a day. You normally have one 8 oz, two 6 oz. and one 4-6 oz. before bedtime. You and Paige are both getting bored of the formula and it's a struggle to get you to eat more. You would much rather be eating real food. Who can blame you, though?! You still wear size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 nighttime diapers. You wear mostly 6-12 month and 9 month clothes. You can also wear a few 12 month clothes. You usually have oatmeal with bananas or applesauce for breakfast, yogurt for lunch and some sort of fruit/veggie combo for dinner. We usually try to order something that we can share with you if we go out to eat. You love to eat what we're eating! You are still such a sweet, cuddly, giggly, little boy!! You are also a big mommy's boy right now and I LOVE it!! Mommy and daddy love you SO much, little man!


Paige~ You are just such a sweet, little cuddlebug right now! You love to give hugs and kisses! I love it! You like to crawl up in our laps and love on us. Melts.my.heart. I LOVE all your sweet cuddles! You are crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything now. You love to follow your brother wherever he goes. It's like a little train. So cute! You have two teeth but I think we might be on the verge of cutting some more. You are doing so well with eating and feeding yourself finger foods. You LOVE yogurt and have it almost everyday for lunch. You are still having four bottles a day. You normally have one 8 oz., two 6 oz. and one 4 oz. before bedtime. You are just so bored with the formula now and would much rather eat real food. I think you'll be much happier when you can move on to drinking whole milk in a few months. You still wear size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 nighttime diapers. You wear mostly 6-12 and 9 months clothes. You can also wear a few 12 month clothes. Most days you have oatmeal with bananas or applesauce for breakfast, yougurt for lunch and some sort of veggie/fruit combo for dinner. You love to share mommy and daddy's food when we go out to eat. You are just such a sweet, silly, little cuddlebug!! You are also a huge daddy's girl! When daddy gets home you just light up and get SO excited! Mommy and daddy love you SO much, sweetpea!

Once again, I was not able to get a picture with their monthly stickers on. Oh well!

9 months

Wow, have I been slacking on this blog or what! I just never can seem to get it together when I have something I want to write about. Logan and Paige turned 9 months on July 12th. I intentionally put off posting last week because I wanted to wait until we had their measurements from their check-up on Friday...and now it's Wednesday night. Oops!

Logan~ You are still just as sweet and funny as ever...and you have also developed quite the little mischevious side too! You are in the midst of some terrible teething at the moment and you are constantly trying to eat mommy, daddy and Paige. We call you our little shark or little dinosaur. You try to be really sneaky about it too. You'll get the biggest smile on your face and you'll bat your little eyes at me...and then you go in for the kill. You are too funny! You are now a crawling fool! You especially love to crawl around like a crazy man in your birthday suit. You look like a little frog hopping around. It's hysterical! You have also learned how to get yourself into a sitting position by yourself. You are doing better at feeding yourself puffs and other finger foods. You still prefer for us to feed you but mommy is trying not to let you get away with that! Ha! You love to play wrestle mania with your sister. Thankfully she is pretty tolerant of you rolling around on her. You have learned to give kisses now. So sweet! You are pulling up on mommy and daddy, and have also started to try to pull up on the couches. Nothing much has changed as far as eating goes. You're still getting four bottles a day and mommy is working on giving you three solid food meals a day as well. You also get 2-3 snacks throughout the day. You are still wearing size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 for bedtime. You are mostly wearing 6-12 month, 9 month and a few 6-9 month clothes. You now weigh 17 lbs and are 27 inches long. You are so much fun to be with and we love to watch all the new things you are learning. Mommy and daddy love you SO much!!

Paige~ You are a hoot, sweet girl! You are constantly cracking us up with all the silly little things you do. You love to clap now. When you get really excited you will clap and rock back and forth! So cute! You still love to pat-pat which I love! You will also give kisses now, but you're pretty stingy with them. :-) I still think baby kisses are the best, though. You love to just sit and play with your toys and observe things. You're starting to army crawl more now when you want to reach something. You also just started getting up on your hands and knees and rocking back and forth. I think you're going to be on the move with your brother very soon! You still love to dance and it is still so stinkin' cute! You love to just chat and babble all the time. You have a lot to say these days! I love your sweet smile in the mornings and when you get up from your naps. Your smiles absolutely warm our hearts! You love to put things in containers and get them back out. You also love to sit in the containers too. :-) You are doing so well at feeding yourself puffs and other finger foods. Nothing much has changed for you with eating. You still get four bottles and day and we're working on feeding you three solid meals a day as well. You also get 2-3 snacks during the day. You are still wearing size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 for bedtime. You are wearing mostly 6-12 month, 9 month and a few 6-9 month clothes. You now weigh 16 lbs and are 27 1/2 inches long. You are so much fun to be with and we love watching you learn new things. Mommy and daddy love you SO much!!

What we've been up to...

Wow, I'm ashamed that it's been two weeks since my last post. I always come up with ideas and things I want to post about, but sadly I just haven't been making the time. There's always something around the house that needs to be done or I'm just too tired by the end of the day to form any sort of coherent post. I want to make sure I record all the fun, new things that Logan and Paige are up to so here it goes!

Logan and Paige are still loving the pool! We have taken them to one of our neighborhood pools a few times and we have also swam several times at Mimi and Poppi's pool. Paige LOVES the water! She is my litte waterbug! I absolutely love baby swimsuits and I especially love their little tushies in them and the hiney hang-out! It's too cute. I may or may not have bought 4 different swimsuits for Paige already. A girl needs choices, right? :-)

Logan is doing really well at sitting up all by himself now. He no longer needs a spotter. Go Logan! He's also SO close to crawling! He tries so hard and actually lunged forward on his knees the other day and moved one hand forward...then he plopped down on his belly. :-) Paige, on the other hand, is perfectly content to just sit and play with her toys and books. She has made absolutely no attempts at trying to crawl. I think she's just holding out for Logan so that once he's mobile she can just boss him around and tell him to get things for her. Ha!

I just love to watch all the new things that they're learning. They are both learning to take their puffs in their fingers and feed themselves. Paige does this pretty well. Logan just wants me to do everything for him. He gets SO mad at me when I try to make him hold the puffs in his fingers and feed himself or when I make him hold his bottle or sippy cup. It's not that he can't do it, he just doesn't want to do it. Lazy, little boy! Speaking of sippy cups, we just introduced them to Paige and Logan this past weekend and I'm happy to say that they're both doing so well with them! I bought the Nub.y brand that has two handles on each side and a flexible, soft spout on the top. It's spillproof and it's pretty easy for them to hold and tilt back. I'm giving them a tiny bit of baby applejuice mixed with water in the cups. They seem to like it.

While we're on the subject of feeding, Logan and Paige have continued to move right along with trying new fruits and veggies. We usually have oatmeal mixed with some sort of fruit (pears, apples, peaches, bananas, etc.) for breakfast in the morning and then at dinner they get two veggies or a fruit and a veggie. I'm gearing myself up to start feeding them a solid for lunch too. Once I start I can't go back! We've also let them try a few table foods as well. They've had shredded chicken, rolls and some mashed potatoes from Lu.by's. Yum!

Paige is really into this patting thing. She loves to pat-pat-pat on your chest, shoulder, leg or arm. It's so sweet and I just love it! Logan and Paige's Auntie H came to visit a few weeks ago and we all had so much fun! She lives in Denver so we don't get to see each other that often. We missed not getting to see Uncle Phil and cousin Berkeley but we can't wait to see the whole family at Christmas!

8 Months!

On Sunday our sweet babies turned 8 months old! I have no doubt that the next four months are going to fly by and I will no longer have babies...they will be toddlers. Ugh. Can someone please hurry up and figure out a way to slow down time? They are doing so many new things now and are just so much fun. They both have lots of personality and I love it!

Logan~ You are just as sweet and funny as ever! You still have two bottom teeth and you love to try to eat all of us! I keep telling Daddy that we're all going to have nightmares about your two little teeth coming at us. Ha! You will grab ahold of my face and pull me really hard towards you so that you can eat my face. You are so silly! You are doing really well at sitting up on your own now but you still need a spotter or a boppy around you when you reach for things beside you or behind you. You love to stand up and you love to bounce (aka "boingy boingy")! You absolutely adore your sister! You will just smile so big when you see her and the two of you have developed quite the little communication system lately. It's so fun to watch the two of you interact! You are now wearing size 3 diapers all the time. You wear mostly 6-9 month clothes and a few 6-12 month. I also still squeeze you into a few 3-6 month clothes at times. You have tried lots of new foods but you no longer like to eat veggies that aren't sweet. The only ones you'll eat now are sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Mommy has gotten sneaky, though, and has started mixing some other non-sweet veggies with the sweet potatoes and squash so that you won't know the difference. :-) You have recently started having peach yogurt melts and Ger.ber puffs for snacks. You also get peach popsicles when we go to Mimi and Poppi's house to swim! You are just growing up TOO fast! Mommy and Daddy love you SOOO much!!

Paige ~Sweet, baby girl...you crack us up! Your personality has just exploded and you do the funniest things! You LOVE to dance now and sometimes you'll stick your tushy out and dance on Daddy's lap! You love to laugh and are ticklish now. You have one bottom tooth that has started poking through the gums and I'm pretty sure you're also in the midst of cutting the tooth right beside it as well. You are sitting up all by yourself now without any assistance or spotting. You do NOT like to share toys with your brother but you love to laugh at him and "talk" to him. You and Logan went swimming for the first time a few weeks ago and you LOVE it! You are seriously a little water baby! You have tried so many new foods now and so far you have liked everything. You also like the peach yogurt melts and Ger.ber puffs that we recently started giving you. A peach popsicle at Mimi and Poppi's house after swimming is always a favorite too! You are getting so big! Mommy and Daddy love you SOOO much!!

*The following pictures were taken right before bedtime and they were the best we could get. We are in full out teething chaos over here and so it's pretty much complete survivial mode at this point! At least I got the pictures...a day late. Oh well. Such is the life of a twin mom, right!?
