I just have a few random thoughts to blog about today. First of all, I still haven't heard back from the RE's office about the blood test I had run last Monday. I'm supposed to call the rude nurse back today to remind her to check on my results again. I don't really understand why I'm supposed to call and remind her to do her job, but whatever. I now know that I have to stay on top of things and look out for myself.
Chris and I were in Target Saturday night and as we were walking towards the checkout area I noticed a teenage boy and girl in front of us. They had come from a "certain aisle" in the store that I have frequented over the last 10 months and the blue box in the teenage girl's hand was unmistakable. She was nervously looking around and trying to hide the box as best as she could. I nudged Chris and said, "Hey, look what that girl has in her hand. You know what that is, don't you?" It could only be one of two things: a pregnancy test or an OPK (ovulation predictor kit). Ha! I'm 99.99% sure that girl is not tracking her monthly ovulation, although now that I think about it she might want to start doing just that since she obviously is not practicing safe sex.
For those of you who know us well, you will be happy to know that Chris and I are now the proud owners of a trash can for our kitchen!!! We've lived in our house for almost 3 years and we FINALLY purchased a trash can this weekend. Yay for us! No more designer trash bags hanging on the pantry door. Our new purchase is very plain. It's just a white, plastic trash can with a lid and it now lives in our pantry. I could never find a trash can that I really liked and that looked decent enough to have out in our kitchen, and that didn't cost almost $100. I finally decided, why not just buy a cheap one and rearrange our pantry so that we can store it in there? What a great idea! Too bad it took me almost 3 years to figure this out. Oh well, this obviously has not been high on my priority list but it can now be checked off my list. And oh how I love to check things off my list! I'm a tad bit OCD at times. :-)

Watch Out! And I'm not even on fertility meds yet!
Monday was the day that I lost it. Both mentally and emotionally. After the lab mishap we learned about last week and then me not ever feeling like my questions were answered by the nurse, my run-in with this same nurse Monday morning was the last straw! I went to the RE's office Monday morning to pick up my lab slip. I had a question for the nurse about whether or not I should start a new pack of birth control pills next week because this is my last week of active pills in the current pack. I asked the girls at the front desk if she was in yet and they said, "Oh there she is walking in the door." Great...so I thought. We had only spoken over the phone so I introduced myself and even apologized for stopping her. I told her that I just had a quick question, proceeded to ask her my question and then she had the nerve to act extremely rude, give me a quick, generic answer while at the same time giving me this look of disgust. Arghh!!!!! To top it off, I could hear the girls behind me at the front desk laughing and one even said, "She doesn't know who she is." Are you kidding me??? I had JUST spoken with her late Friday afternoon, explained what I was there for (she was the one who had written up my lab slip and left it at the front desk for me) and she still acted as if she had no clue who I was. She didn't even offer to go look at my chart quickly to familiarize herself if that's what she needed. So, I just walked away and pulled it together long enough to go downstairs to the lab and have my blood drawn.
As soon as I walked outside on my way to the parking garage it happened...the unending stream of tears and sobbing. I was so upset by everything that happened last week and by the way the nurse had treated me. I called Chris and he immediately knew that something was wrong. Chris tried to console me as I drove to work and on the way I decided that I was never going to get anything done at work and just needed to take a personal day. I got into my office with the intentions of quickly calling my boss to make sure this was ok and then just getting through a few urgent items and leaving. I thought I had myself pulled together enough to call my boss, but when he picked up the phone and asked how I was...I lost it, again. I felt like such a blubbering fool but thankfully my boss and his wife have been down this IVF road so he's used to dealing with emotional, hormonal women. He told me that taking a personal day would be fine and to just try and relax and not stress out too much. I also had to quickly call my other boss to discuss something with him and lo and behold as soon as he picked up the phone and asked how I was the tears started flowing again! Thankfully he is the father of my other boss and has also learned how to deal with emotional, hormonal women.
I was such a wreck. I knew that this journey was going to be hard and I knew that there would be lots of twists and turns along the way, but I just wasn't expecting to have a complete meltdown before I started taking the fertility meds and had a legitimate excuse for those actions! :-) Oh well, I'm much better today and just praying that the lab gets my test results back soon! I can't wait to be done with this nurse and graduate on to the one who handles the IVF schedules. Hopefully she'll be a lot nicer and more understanding.

An award for me!!
Woohoo! This is my very first blog award! My blog-friend, Katie, gave me this award a few days ago and I was so excited!! I feel like I'm officially part of the blog world now. Thanks, Katie, for giving me this much needed pick-me-up! Here are the Honest Scrap stipulations:
1. Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find interesting and engaging
2. Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog and leave a comment informing them that they have won the "Honest Scrap Award"
3. List at least 10 honest things about yourself
Here is the list of blogs that I am awarding for their honest and truly inspiring posts:
1. Where's Baby?
2. Dancin' in the Rain
3. I never thought it made sense anyway
4. The Dressler Family
5. The Pifer's Journey Through Infertility
6. unquestionable love
7. Walking the Journey
10 honest things about me:
1. I HATE spiders and snakes. Anything that has too many legs or no legs at all just creeps me out.
2. Two of my most favorite things in the whole world are funnel cakes and fresh squeezed lemonade!
3. I would love to own a cute, little bookstore...like the one in "You've Got Mail". I would have story time for the kids and maybe a book club of sorts for the adults!
4. I wish that I had a loud speaker on the outside of my car so that I could yell at all the idiot drivers here in Houston. And I wish that I had the authority to write tickets to those idiot drivers too.
5. I cannot wink. Chris often tries to teach me, but it's just not happening.
6. I still sleep with my childhood lovie...Bloopie. He used to be a humpty dumpty doll, but now he's just kind of a faceless blob. Don't judge...there are far worse things in life that I could be doing. :)
7. My parents used to play "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang when I was a baby to get me to stop crying. Apparently, as soon as it came on I would dance around in my crib. To this day, I still get excited when I hear that song and I have to sing along and dance!
8. I have a tad bit of OCD when it comes to cleaning the house...ESPECIALLY loading the dishwasher.
9. I love to have checklists and to literally "check" items off my list as I complete them.
10. I hate grocery shopping but I like making the grocery list and organizing the groceries in the fridge and pantry once they're home.

Stupid Lab!!!!!
Aahhhhhh! I am sooo incredibly frustrated with the stupid lab!! They did not run the test that my doctor really wanted run so now I have to go back in Monday morning for them to draw blood again. They better get it right this time or someone in that lab is going to pay. :-)
To make matters worse, this test is one of the ones that takes a little longer for the results to come back (of course it is, why would I think it would be any different?). The nurse said that on average they're doing good to get the results back in one week. On Monday morning, I plan to bribe anyone with the authority to expedite my test. Don't think I'm kidding. I'm a woman on a mission, people. Meanwhile, every time I turn on the news there's another celebrity announcing that they're pregnant. Ugh.
Oh well, as Chris reminded me the other day, "Good things come to those who wait." I sure hope he's right because this waiting game is no fun!!!

The Waiting Game: I don't want to play anymore.
I finally received a phone call from the RE's office yesterday afternoon. The nurse told me that they're still waiting for the lab to send them the results from one of the hormone tests. She's not even sure that the lab actually ran the test so she's supposed to call the lab this morning to follow up. If they haven't run the test she's going to ask them to run it with any leftover blood they still have from me in their lab. Ugh. On top of that, they are also still waiting to receive Chris' test results from his urologist. This was not a surprise and thankfully Chris and I requested copies of all of this records and test results at each appointment so I was able to fax over his records to the RE's office this morning.
So, more waiting. I love the weekends but the weekends also mean no chance of a phone call from the RE's office. Once again we are in a holding pattern. I do not want to play this game anymore! It's so frustrating. All I've done so far is take two weeks worth of birth control pills which made me feel like crap the first week. I know this sounds strange, but I'm ready for the needles! When I get to start the injections I'll finally feel like we're making some progress again. I sure hope I get another call today or Monday. This waiting game is no fun!!

Ring, stupid phone, RING!!!!
Ugh, I hate waiting for phone calls. I am STILL waiting for the RE's office to call me back with the game plan for odering the fertility meds and what my timeline will be. They're supposed to call me this week, but of course that probably means that they won't call until late Friday afternoon. Do they not understand I'm on pins and needles here? He-llo people!! I need info and I need it now!!! :-)
Maybe God is still trying to teach me patience. Hmm...or maybe He's trying to remind me that this whole journey is out of my control and I just need to sit back and let Him lead. Either way, I think I'm failing miserably at both of these today.
Hopefully I'll be back soon with an update!

Cudos to my sweet husband!
Ok, I have to do a little bragging on my sweet husband. We are studying Gary Chapman's Five Love Languages right now in our small group and Tuesday night we discussed the love language of Receiving Gifts. As we were discussing various gifts, big and small, that you could give to your spouse to show your love I whispered in Chris' ear "Nestle Tollhouse". I LOVE Nestle Tollhouse and thankfully (although not so thankfully when it comes to keeping in shape) we have one right in our neighborhood!! Now, Receiving Gifts is not my primary love language but it ties with Words of Affirmation for a close second. Physical Touch is actually my primary love language. Now, back to Chris! I was sooo tired and worn out when I got home yesterday. I didn't feel like cooking dinner. All I wanted to do was lay around on the couch and be a vegetable. When Chris got home from work he walked in with...a Nestle Tollhouse bag just for me!!! He had stopped on his way home and picked up one of my most favorite treats from Nestle...the key lime cup. It is soooo yummy!!
Chris is often accused of not paying attention to things but he always seems to surprise me by the things that he actually DOES pay attention to. :-) Thank you, Chris, for being such an incredible husband!!
P.S. Chris, please default back to this post when the hormones and fertility drugs cause me to say things I don't mean. :-) Remember, it's just the hormones talking!
